A telephone socket is the regular phone socket for the RJ11(UK, BS6312) telephone plug(which connects the telephone to the local telephone network). In UK, the telephone socket is for the plugging in of the BT phone cable. The telephone socket can be master(there is only one master telephone socket) or slave(there can be more than one slave telephone sockets); the sockets wire from the master telephone socket and then follow from slave socket to slave socket all the way back to the master telephone socket(more on the British Telephone wiring, UK wiring).
